heating unit blower won't shut off

Hello,

I live in a new condo development with garden style condos. Heat is propane gas. The heating unit in my condo is set at a 73 degrees. The blower has been constantly on for the past 24 hours, blowing air, but not hot air. I finally turned the heat off. Are we out of propane or is this some kind of energy saving thing? Should I call someone to look at the unit?

I appreciate the guidance. Joann

    Joann,

Is the fan switch on the thermostat set for auto or on? Make sure its on "auto".

Have you changed the filter lately?

Call someone. It is likely the safety circuit has a bad sensor somewhere in the loop. This causes the blower to just blow, with no heat. Could be a rollout sensor (some have a little reset button in the middle) and could be a high-limit sensor, which fails sometimes due to a dirty air filter.

    fan stuck on.

I would say probably 80% of the service calls we have w/ a problem like you state is a plugged air filter and furnace has tripped the high limit air temp to protect furnace. It may be a manual reset or a failed auto reset type. Good luck. Tim

It''s always a good idea to have four Heating and A/C checked annually for safety and proper performance.
