This is related to hydronic heating only by the fact that one can't have duct-mounted bypass humidifiers if one has hot water heat.
So we have a freestanding evaporative panel humidifier, but pulling out the large plastic "bottles" and filling at a tap every day feels increasingly difficult as we get older. Those things are heavy, and the smaller humidifiers don't put out as much humidity.
So I am wondering if there is a humidifier that one can either
(a) roll to a sink and then fill with a hose or something, without any heavy lifting (I can't identify one over the web because the descriptions are not helpful), or
(b) connect permanently to plumbing. I know about the Aprilaire that has its own fan and so doesn't need a duct, but we don't have a place where the Aprilaire can be mounted behind a wall. We need an unit that sits on the floor looking good, such that we can run an unobtrusive plastic pipe to it.
All suggestions gratefully received.0 -
Try this
GeneralAire has a new line of duct mounted or free standing steam generating humidifiers. I've installed commercial versions of similar steam humidifiers but they cost thousands. These are geared toward the residential market. It would probably need a water supply and a copper drain line as it probably flushes itself.

These look good, thanks! (Although not cheap.) I'll look into it.0 -
Passive Humidifiers Plants
If you folks have the space and like them, plants will add humidity to the air.
