First...you have a boiler. Second, not only did you hijack this thread, you will not get noticed here. Suggest you re-post in a new thread.

My steam boiler in a 72 unit apt. building is taking double the time to build up preassure. Why? Tenants still complain of no heat.

This is a perfect time to try find a pro. could be many things, several of which only a pro should touch for liability reasons.

I had a 'pro' come. That's why I asked here. It's also losing a lot of water. Could it be a cracked boiler or a leak in the return line?

Then you didn't have a pro. To many Pros on this sight not to find a GOOD one. ED

    leaky furnace

I came home on sunday night only to find the downstais steaming up. Water all over the place. With a little bit of investigation , i find out that the h2o was coming from 2 places.1 from the pressure valve and 2 a pipe coming out of the furnace. I manage to shutoff the water, replace/ rebuild the pressure valve( pick one up at the local home improvement store and replaced the gasget and the ring and bolt) that seem to stop the water coming from there. But when i turned the water valve back on, It is still leaking What gives? is there an " easy reset switch" somewhere? At least that what I'm hoping Please help.
Boiler system is an weil mclain unsure of the install date.
  • do we have

Do we have two different threads on this post? One with "leaky" steam boiler and other is a leaky water "furance"? Ethier way, they both need a Professial BOILER company to check out the plms..

Wow, could it be dirty causing poor heat transfer? could it be leaking causing more load to be applied due to cold return? could it be a burner that is poorly adjusted, ie too much excess air? could the water side need to be cleaned causing poor heat transfer? could it be running at too high of a setting causing many issues? im done for now.
