Yes it does sound like oil equiptment and should be checked by the installer. Depending on your tank location and where the oil lines run it could be a leak or some other way that air is entering the oil line.

    Boiler vibrates and smokes at start up

    I had a new oil boiler installed,a few months ago.I went to put it on but it vibrates and smokes at start up.Thanks for anyones help.

    Call the installing contractor RIGHT NOW. There should be no problem with them coming out to remedy the problem. It may be just something over looked or that the system was not set up correctly from the get go....... Call and they probably should be glad to help.
