Only the third boiler in this historic home

The coal bin is not only still in tact, but full of coal. The home is the oldest house in Floral Park (1779). They used coal until the late 60s, then went to oil. The HO asked us if she should convert to gas, but we discouraged it in this case. Its a nice old gravity H.W. system with the tank in the basement. It had a nice, wide, outside entrance, BUT!!!! had a deck built over it with a trap door AND a natural gas line to a BBQ that was crudely piped in the middle of the staircase.....It was an HONOR to be only the third Deadman to install the heating system in this home. The History..........Mad Dog

No worries, Matt!
Here you go. I rotated the pic for you.
You know how much I admire your work and those painted headers have become quite the trademark. Congrats on the install and I hope they'll call you back whenever they need a new water heater too.0 -
Great Work
As usual - nice job. The header set up looks so neat and pro looking. Any before pictures?0 -

sweet
love those old timers. I remember J.leno saying how funny it was in California when he first got there and folks pointing out houses from the 40s and 30s and he's thinking 1730 and they mean 1930. I love going in and seeing the old hand cut axed beams with the Roman Numerals on them and the coresponding number on the carry beams.
We recently went to Sturbridge Village and while nice I'm thinking whats the big deal I see this stuff most every day. It was very interesting though watching folks from other new areas of the country marvel at all the old stuff.

Nice job Dawg!
Your picture reminded me of why I bought a lightweight flat screen monitor...........It's easier to turn on its side to view pics like that.
NOT!
Seriously, that is nice work and like Constantin observed, the painted header is becoming a trademark for you like HB's diamond plate is for him.
What size 215 is that?0 -
But
you seem to be very much a live man....

Period coal, period home, anachronistic boiler
Did you at least dress in pilgrim fashion when you were painting that gorgeous header of yours?
A natural gas barbecue machine would not be in period either. I hope you were allowed to rip out the offending pipe.
Congratulations on an important job well done.
