    But not what you think...

A new customer called me last week looking for a contractor that does radiant work. They recently purchased the house and some one told them that hot water baseboard gets the walls dirty, so they ripped out the HWBB throughout the house and installed a heat pump.

(I am NOT going to discuss the points about ripping out the HWBB or installing a heat pump. That is not what this thread is about)

Here's the scrap iron. Yes, it is exactly what you think it is....

    I told them

About an indirect water heater and the possibility of using the boiler in conjunction with a pool heat exchanger to heat the pool in the shoulder months.

This WH was made in 1992. There is an old element on the floor in front of it.

    Scary....

    I'm looking at

A mod/con boiler that will also work for the IDWH and the pool heater.

The owners emailed me pictures of the job before the rip out, that'll help me figure out flow patterns.

This one will be fun, but most of the boiler jobs I get are.

I love this part of the job!

    SCRAP IRON!

Please don't send the boiler to the scrap yard. Perhaps you could donate it to a needy family, Habitat for Humanity, a local church, local PHCC etc... Thanks.
