steam pressure gauge and pressuretrol on same pipe?

Im planning to switch to a vaporstat but wondering if it is ok to have my pressure gauge Teed with the pressuretrol. The pressuretrol I have right now is adjusted all the way down and still I can't get it to cut out any lower than 2 psi. I was thinking that the gauge acts like a ballon.

Thanks in advance...

    Why not

Change it as well. Its location is proper, but hey, you can never have enough.

    control piping

I usually put a gauge cock below the gauge only; so I can shut it off to check its zero or swap out on the run and use all brass fittings. I never saw any effect on the Vaporstat from a gauge or pipe volume nor would expect any detrimental impact. You should always be able to see what is happening at the control element.

    short cycling

I'm posting my question in this thread so everyone can see the picture and history.

I've tweaked my pressuretrol to cut out at 1.5 pounds and come back on at around zero. It runs steady to make steam and once it cuts out it stays off for 1.5 minuets and comes back on for 3 minutes. Does this constitute short cycling?

I'm still looking for a vaporstat but have to get the okay from my landlord. I'm getting the feeling that I may have to put in a smaller nozzle (I have a 0.85 gph) in my burner. My landlord has the boiler serviced by their oil company, something I feel is a conflict of interest.

Fanplant the cycles you are seeing are common. Most boiler manufactures would say they are normal. All things considered -Proper venting and piping - The cycles have a tendency to occur within boilers that a oversized for the connected load(EDR).You can have a "PRO" look at you firing rate(nozzle size)and see if it would benefit from some adjusting. This MAY relieve or lengthen the cycles. If not a vaporstat would serve no benefit if your system is oversized a cuts out on pressure. Good Luck
