Wags valve

Left handed threads are no longer a concern. Water heater manufactures started switching to left handed threads to discourage the end user from replacing a failed thermocouple with an after market product. After several calls to taco technical support from technicians out in the field looking for support with a left handed thread thermocouple adapter, Taco decided to included both right, and left handed thread adapters with every wiring harness supplied with the WAGS valve at no additional charge. How can you beat that?

Had a customer ask for a
valve to protect against water heater leaking and flooding. Who is installing the Wags valve from taco. How do you like it. Anything I should know? Is it resetable after an occurence? Thanks for any input. WW

Two of my students
from the gas company are the inventers of the WAGS, I should have kept my ideas secret. It is a one time device which has to be replaced after it shuts down water and gas. It is a good idea at time of instaling a new water heater.
Watch out on the new water heaters that use a reverse thread (left hand) on the thermocouple as you will need a special adapter to connect the WAGs millivolt shut off.0
