pulling hydro heat from bottom of steam boiler

i have steam heat in the main part of my house. we pulled two zones off the bottom of the boiler for base boards in two seperate parts of the house. one zone, on the second story always becomes air bound. when it does gravity takes effect and water floods the boiler. there is a check valve on the feed side before the circulating pump. i was told i need one on the return side, however i do not understand how or where to install it. any help
