Repairing pipe on steam system

My friend is away on business and last night his wife called about water in the basement. The source was the elbow on the hartford loop on his steam system. I was able to get the two pipes that lead to the elbow off and now have to replace a 21 3/4 piece, a 5 1/2 piece and the elbow for 1 1/2 inch iron pipe. How do I piece this together. When you screw the pipe into the bottom fitting it is going to unscrew at the top. Is there a coupling that makes this possible? Thanks!

it's called a union. Some supply houses will cut pipe to sketch. Make a drawing and bring it to 'em. Do ya have the right tools? Maybe a pro should be called. "Little" things like this can be a PIA if ya never did it before.0
