Combination gas/oil boiler

can be hung on most of the oil capable commercial boilers on the market. Weil doesn't make the burner(s). Webster, Power Flame, & G/P, are the usuals. Carlin is joining the club. Neat piece.

NFPA 31 limits gas-oil combos to minimum 400 mbh input. Most units work well. However, you should go in knowing which is the fuel of choice. Occasionally the second fuel adjustments result in efficiency compromises. Worth the extra $$ if you burn lots of btus, &/or can negotiate fuel prices.

    Combination gas/oil boiler

Anyone have any experience with a boiler that can burn either gas or oil ? I note W/M makes a few. I'm thinking about it to hedge my bets. Gas is cheaper now but if things go the other way I can convert it to oil. I currently have oil and could just leave the tank in place.

    Oil boiler

I would say get an oil boiler, and also buy a power flame gas conversion burner for it. That is exactly what I did last year. This way I can change back and forth every year if I wish to. Gas is a little cheaper this year, but I already have 300 gallons of oil in the basement, so this year I'll be firing oil.
