Cast Iron Radiators

I have to disconnect two radiators in our family room to pull some woodwork off our walls to be refinished and re-wallpaper. After the system has been dumped and the radiators disconnected, is it possible to still have heat without these radiators connected? I was wondering if they could be capped off or something?

Rad. removal
You said after the system was dumped, so I'm assuming it's a hot water system, with two connections per radiator. You'll have to remove the valve and return elbow [if used] and install plugs and/or caps on each connection. You'll be ok to fill-er-up[ & get heat to the rest of the house. But one thing I gotta know...............WHY did ya deceide to do this project during the heating season? Dontcha think the off season would have been a better time? You'll probable mangle the valves tryin' to remove 'em. I think you should make sure you have the replacements available before you try to re-install.0
