Sizing Steam main air vents

Member Posts: 46
Have just read Dan's "We Got Steam" book and now know I need to replace my main vents. I have two mains on my one pipe steam system. One is 61 feet in length, the other is 44 feet. Both are two inch pipe. Any advise?
The mains are insulated.

I'd use
one Gorton #2 vent on the short main, and a combination of one Gorton #2 and one Gorton #1 on the longer one.
If you can't find Gortons in your area, try www.statesupply.com .
The #2 vent is not cheap, but will save you a lot of fuel.

What is the equivilance between a Gorton #1 and a Hoffman 75?0 -

They're both
about the same capacity, but the Hoffman usually costs a lot more. You would need four of these to equal one Gorton #2.
