oil tank location

If your oil tank is older you may awaken the sleeping dog and cause a leak. Another thing, MAKE SURE the fill pipe is removed from the outside UNTIL it is reattached to the tank. The delivery guy is used to filling a fill pipe attached to a tank.

    I'm relocating my oil tank

Is there a minimum distance between an indoor oil tank and the main house sewer trap?

I don't kow if there is a code for that, but you'd better leave enough room to not only get to it, but to also work on it. I'd leave at least 2 feet.

you could consider leaving the same work room clearances as a

cleanout for that size of drainage pipe....

How much should that be for a 4" main trap?

    707.9

in the 20002 UPC suggeststhe parameters. if you dont have a code book

it goes something like 18" in front of the cleanout, verticle and 30 " horizontal, with consideration to the removal of the fitting...

in other words leave enough space in order that you may work on it in the future. cleanouts generally need to be brought up out of a floor to grade....in your case it would be similar to a backwater valve...being able to take things apart and put them together is a good idea.

the sleeping dog was blocking the window

so I moved it but then people complained about it being too close to the fire. So I'm moving it again. If it starts leaking I'll replace it but it looks very solid so far.

I removed the fill spout -- thanks for the warning.
