how do you bleed a riello m5 burner pump. i dont see any bleeder

that`s the primary reset control, it may not be "red" now, but when its in operation, if for some reason it shuts-down on safety, that button lights-up. But for "bleeding-it", you can stop the burner by pushing-it, long enough to get the plug back-in!

i dont see any bleeder screw just plugs
  • Riello........

Rick; It may not look like a "conventional" bleeder screw, it may be a plug, right below the regulator adjustment screw.

that is how i tried to bleed it. didnt take plug all the way out just cracked it. didnt seem to get good flow though.
  • Riello.......

You may have to remove-it(holding A can under it) and run it, it only pulls vacuum after the pre-purge cycle, when you get good flow you can stop-it by pushing and holding the red button-in, that way you can replace the plug.

Thanks dave. when you say hold the button in i assume you mean reset button on control
  • That`s the one........

unless you got really long arms, its hard to reach the switch to stop-it when it does come!

i meant the reset button on the cad cell relay control (the gray box that goes to electrodes)
  • Right..........

That red button lights-up if it shuts-off on safety, if you push-it and hold-it in, (after the oil gets to you), it stops the burner so you can put the plug back-in with your other hand.

no red button that lights up. it is a riello gray controler with round button. on a pensotti boiler. if boiler locked out you would have to push button to reset.
  • Riello..........

Its a big round "red" button on the gray control box right?

thanks for your help dave. i will pull the plug under the pump adjustment screw and put my bucket under till i get good flow while tricking the cad cell eye with my flashlight and then when i get good flow i will hold reset button long enough to put plug back in. fuel line all bled . thanks again.
  • Hope you make-out..........

OK, by the way, whats with the flashlight? The cad cell is mounted under the grey box, you have to remove-it to get-at it, so ya lost me there. Anyway, after your done bleeding, just pour your oil back in the tank.

    Flashlight

the cover over drawer assembly has a hole in it that if you use a flashlight to shine in will make the cadcell think its seeing flame
  • Got ya Bruce.........

    and Thanks!
