Thermostat fast cycle

are good but they must be set for your system, you probably need to set the cycles to 2 or 3 or a higher temp differential of 2 or 3 depending on make and model, there should be a section in the manuel that tells you how to do this listed as either cycles per hour or temerature differential.

Thermostat fast cycle
A couple of months ago we got a new WM oil fired boiler for home and indirect water heating. So a couple of days ago we removed the old mercury tilt-switch thermostat and put in a new digital programmable one.
The problem is that it seems as though there is no "cushion" in the temperature setting. What I mean is that if I set it at 68F and the temp drops to 67F, then the boiler fires, but it may only be on for one or two seconds (I'm not kidding) before it shuts off again due to the room temperature randomly fluctuating back up one degree.
So is this a problem with this particular unit (defective item), a problem with this brand, Honeybucket (defective design), or a problem with digital thermostats as a whole (defective technology)? Is there a good brand and model that would you would suggest for simple two-wire oil-fired heating?

I have cycles per hour set to 4 (i.e. 15 minutes) but there is no setting for temp differential. I had assumed it was fixed at some optimum, but I guess it's just a cheapo unit I have.0 -
I would try
cycles to 2 for hw heating. If you have cycles then you will not have a temp differential.0
