Hello,
I have a SP-80 Tempstar natural gas forced air furnace that is 11 years old recently i had the blower removed and cleaned the person who cleaned it said there was 2 oil ports
for the motor and ask me for some 3 in 1 oil he put some in each port and put the caps back on, anyway he re- installed
the blower and it works great, i had found the owners manual for the Furnance and looked under maintance and it said to use sae 10w30 motor oil only and to not use 3 in 1 oil because it may damage the motor is this correct?in what way could the 3 in 1 oil damage the motor?and should i be worried about this?
any advice apperciated

It is too light and it will clean out the bearings. Not to worry. It will run out quickly.Wait a while and reoil it in a few weeks of running time. I like to use a non detergent oil on sleeve bearings. The build up of grease is a good thing..0
