Cleaning a newly installed boiler

We recently had a Peerless EC-3 boiler installed, but my installer has not cleaned the system. I would like to do the cleaning myself, but want to be sure I'm not venturing into uncharted territory.

I'd also like another set of eyes to review the install which I think is on the up and up. Can anyone recommend a Steam Pro in central Connecticut.

    Peerless cleaning

I just had a Peerless ECT 3 (steam) installed and will be happy to go over what I did if you have a steam version of this boiler.

    Let me know.

    Boiler cleaning

First, because everyone has been so helpful to me I'll post my comments.

I'm a knowledgable homeowner and I can confirm that cleaning a new steam boiler after installation is essential. Do not skip this process and be aware that it takes a lot of time and I do not think it can be speeded up. It's also a bit messy/smelly so I bet most homeowners whould be a lot happier letting the installer do it. I cleaned, flushed, skimmed and purged over a period of many days. After two weeks of light operation the smell of cutting oil is gone and things are looking good.

Make sure you trust your installer and that this step is in the contract.
