Regulations regarding colour of outside propane tanks,

Could you please tell me of the regulations regarding the colour of outside propane tanks with a home heating capacity,can I change the colour by painting?

    Check with your gas supplier

    but you do not want to paint them a dark color if they sit in the sun at all, but your supplier owns the tank and you lease in you fuel price so they have the final word.

    International Fire Code and NFPA 58

    governs Liquid Petroleum storage. A dark tank can, during prolonged hot weather and exposure to intense sun, release vapor pressure out the relief valve. I have witnessed this and it can be a source of nervous jitters for sure. Some people like to paint them black or green but I think they come new in white or biege for a good reason. Underground tanks are a better solution.
