    Tubing Cutters

I tried a few different ones over the years. I now have the new Lennox for up to 1-1/8", and I like it. I also like my Ridgid #15 for up to 1-1/8" and the #20 for up to 2-1/8". Another neat cutter is the "Ratchcut" I picked it up new at a flea market. Its a great knuckle saver in place of mini cutters!

    I think

Reed is my overall fav, Ridgid longer lasting. I haven't seen the Lenox cutters yet, but I swear by their recip blades!

    Replacing

Replacing all our Ridgid tubing cutters with Lenox. They don't walk like the Ridge cutters do when the wheel gets a tad used up. We like 'em a lot. Besides Ridge is more of a big box brand now......call me a snob I guess.

I have always stuck with Reed.

The only reason is because it is thinnner, and somehow I think it it easier/quicker to use. I have a 20 year old Ridgid that I think is better built but hardly use it because it is too wide sometimes, and then gets stuck back in my "seconds" tool drawer.

The biggest problem with Reed used to be the press on handle that always fell of after a few months. But now they smartened up and use a nut like Ridgid.

Let me know how the Lenox is...

    Cutters

I've been using Imperial-Eastman for over 25 years. They never wore out. I'm not sure if they are still available.

    Cutters

Moved to all new Lennox cutters. The old Ridgid cutters have been distributed to the helpers. Some of them were my Father's.

The Lennox ones have a nice "heft" and the screw is very smooth.

We also use the orange General mini-cutters. They last for a while, and then we replace the whole cutter even though they make a replacement blade. The cutters are so beaten up by the time the blade wears out that the rest of the cutter is toast also.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

  • We used to use Reed

I remember the supply house we bought our cutters from would take the Reed cutter right back for a direct exchange . Do they still do that ?

How does Ridgid handle busted tubing cutters ? Are there any warantees for their pipe cutters ?
