Weil McLain Ultra controls

I wanted to get you opinions on controling three W-M Ultra's on a church we're doing. I had planned on using a Tekmar 264. Now after checking with the two suppliers in town, one told me 'that's fine, we do it all the time' and the other telling me, 'no you can't do that, it won't work, I am not sure why, but it won't work, you must use a Heat timer Mini-Mod'. Weil McLain told me that either way would work okay, the Mini-Mod would be the best. Yesterday I talked to the local Tekmar distributor and he suggested that I wait for the "new" 265 controller. This job is fairly straight forward with 14 zone valves. I'd like to change the zone valve controls too and am considering the TN4, this would allow me to control the boilers fairly well now until I can get the 265. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I have used the Tekmar 265...

before they had to take them back off the market... can't wait till they get them back out. The jobs that I have done work extremmely well. Gives you a true 15-1 modulation, 3-155's can get you from 30K to 450K. Also you can set them up so that they all will start at low fire as needed and then mod. up together. These boilers will get better eff. at lower fire, so it helps to keep the eff. as high as possible. The 265 will also give you run times of ea. boiler and rotate them as needed to give even run times. It does take the outdoor reset away from the boiler which also makes setting them up easier. You do need to get the AM-4 module for ea. boiler and install them which takes a few minutes per boiler. Also I would recommend getting the Gascom software that is available for the Ultra's, it will simplify setting up the boilers for talk to the am-4's and the Tekmar. Programming the Tekmar and setting up the boilers, will take a couple of hours the first time you go through it, it goes easier after you figure things out a bit.
Have never used the mini-mod control so I can't comment on that.... may work better, or not.... I'm happy with the 265. Actually working on a system now that will be 5- 310's, I will bring two at a time on at both ends and bring one on by it's self in the middle, I think.... still running options through my thick skull...
Good luck, and any more???'s fire away....
