    John!

I knew you'd be behind that thread title. Wouldnt it be great! I would love to see it. Not that I'm a tiger fan but because I dislike the evil empire. (Darth Stienbrenner at the helm) For years my favorite teams were the Orioles and whoever was playing the Yankees. :) Now that I have the Nationals to root for old habits are hard to break. Go Tigers. WW

    Hmmm 6 to nothin'

I'll bet Steinbrenner is considering A-Rod's head on a plate.

Quite the differences between the two team owners........

    I just loved

How Kenny Rogers came up to that state trooper and asked if it was OK before he poured champange on him.

    It was meant to be.

Would the Yankees have come back out onto the field to share the moment with the fans who come to cheer them on?

    One moment please..........

.........of silence in a show of respect for those of us old hard time Yankee fans. --it happens to the BEST [YANKEES] every so often, but remember the MAJIC NUMBER is 26. Will any other team, in any other sport achieve that? That's something like a championship every fours of franchise. HMMMMMMM whom else???? bwdik?ijap for forty years

    Such a question

I would need a crystal ball to answer that question. How would you do if this, and do what if this and if that. As I have told my wife too many times "I don't do 'what ifs'". I know that ya can't change history. BTW, the Yankees had over 4.1 million fans in attendance this year. I guess that's fan appreciation. This is NYC here. Certain things are done and not done here as opposed to the rest of the country. It's a New York City thing. Ya gotta be born with it.

    Light Bulb

How many Yankee fans does it take to change a light bulb?

    --Three--

One to change the light bulb And two to talk about how great the old lightbulb was.

    Go Mets

This is devastating. As a Yankee Fan for 46 years and living "in RED SOX nation" I don't even want to go to work Monday for all the crap I'm going to here.

I wan't to know how Kenny Rogers who hasnt beeten the yankees in 13 years and most of the yankees have 300 batting averages against him could possibly win that game.

Just like life, thats baseball I guess.

Im real happy for the Tigers fans. Reminded me of 04 when the Sox beat up on the bronx divers, oops ,I mean bombers. What a great game b-ball is. How many teams in any other sport celebrate w/ the fans that way. Awesome.

Steinbrenner has now spent 1.2 bbbbbbbbillion dollars in players salaries since 00 w/ 0 championships.ouch.

Hope johnny d. is enjoying his big contract.

    Gotta say it.......Arod ****.

    Yankees by the numbers

    Soooo...

If Steinbrenner is spending 200M/season, what are the Yankees bringing in? What exactly comes out of his pocket, vs what the organization, or company, brings in? Is it all a giant write-off in search of the pennant? Is it all ego in search of the most trophies in his lifetime, or is he spending potential income to be the best?

I think that hit's the nail on the head

"George couldn't buy it this year... team got no heart."

Big George succeeded in assembling what is most likely the greatest collection of players ever to play on one team. There's like 13 AllStars on the Yanks team. The problem is that they never gelled into anything that resembles a team. More like a collection of trophies hanging on the wall of a big game hunter. As much as individual stats mean, baseball is still a team sport and the players need each others support. Didn't see a lot of that from the Yanks this year. Just making A-Rod the scapegoat for their problems. Just who COULD play with that kind of pressure on them?

    To Mr. Hall

When I walked into the Uponer cocktail thingy at ISH I spotted you talking on your cell phone. Having never met you, I wanted to congratulate you on your Tigers making the playoffs. It's a shame they didn't take the division, and it's great the A's and Frank Thomas sent the Twins back to Twinkyville. I'll be pulling for the Tigers all the way through. I remember apologizing to you on The Wall(sort of) for my White Sox spoiling your home opener back in a April. Kudos to your Kittens for knocking off the evil Yanks. I for one will be pulling for the Tigers 'till the end. Go AL Central!!!

Just remember where all the money is coming from. The revenue sharing that is going from the redsox and yankees and other big market teams to the small market teams. This is what is making the all these races more competative. Look at all the teams that were in it until the last week of the season (except for the al east and nl east)

Some of that money is Steinbrenner money.

Also look at Tampa Bay and Kansas City and other teams that don't draw---They only draw when they play the sox or the yankees-there good for baseball
