Any differential adjustment for this old aquastat?
sorry for the double-reply, I pushed the wrong button!

Or any recommendations for new adjustable differential Aquastat?
While I'm stuck with this old system for now--and a newly retro-insulated house--I've set aquastat to 160 down from 180. Not to put serious money into this, but is there an aquastat out there that I can have a differential of let's say 5-7 degrees or more so I will get some pumping without firing for a longer interval before re-firing? That way I'll get a mini-outdoor reset both before it reaches supply temp and a little after so that hot water won't be wasted and in meantime t-stat might be satisfied. (see photo) Note: boiler has vent hood and not barometric damper.0 -
I guess the answer is obvious now that I think of it.
The old thing in the photo likely has a 2-3 degree fixed differential. I looked at a Honeywell L4006A1967 which has 5-30 degree adjustable differential; there are many to choose from. I'm sure honeywell techs can assist me. I'd probably set it at 150 or 160 with a 10 degree diff.

Must be gas Fired Dave?
I think I know what your trying to do, you want the circ. to run longer than the burner, to remove the heat from the boiler to satisy the stat? Is that right? If so, yes Honeywell has all kinds of controls to do just that.0 -

yes, old gas-fired way oversized boiler
probably a good strategy for the time being. Probably shouldn't set it below 140; probably cut down on short cycling. Boiler net is 3.5x heat loss.
Thanks,
