depends on the type of system it's hooked into. Can you take a pic of the radiator and post it here?

    Radiator in Apartment

    I am living in an older, but remodeled apartment in Chicago. I have never "owned" a radiator before - any place I've ever been has had central air/heat. So, I could use a quick review of the basics: how do I turn the radiator on? Operate it properly?

    There's a knob, helpfully marked "on" with an arrow which direction, presumably, to the turn the knob. However, the knob will not turn in that direction.
