Looking for a vent that will hopefully solve a problem with cold rad in attic area. One pipe steam system. First and second floor okay, but stat is shutting off before the attic rad gets steam. Have a TRV on the rad, so looking for a faster vent to try. Any suggestions?

King Vent
Install a King vent on the riser to the attic. A King vent is a main vent but it is piped in near the radiator...0 -
Thanks Ed. Can't seem to find King valves anywhere, yet. do you have a good site?0 -
I think by King Vent he means a main vent that is located at the top of the riser. Just like you would have a main vent at the end of the mains in the basement, this one would help the steam reach the outer reaches of the piping faster. This way steam is available to the radiator quicker and it will start to heat sooner. If you have a copy of Dan's book "The Lost Art of Steam Heating" they are described on page 118.
