We have been requiring this within the "Great State of New Jersey" for some time now. Good to see!

Illinois Public Act 094-0741
Illinois residents and HVAC companies and service techs that perform work in Illinois be advised that House Bill 5284 requiring the installation of carbon monoxide alarms was signed by Governor Rod R. Blagojevich and goes into effect January 1, 2007.
Full text of the law is viewable at http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/publicacts/94/PDF/094-0741.pdf
Many will decry that the law does not go far enough and others will decry the intrusion of government into our lives. So be it.0 -
Questionable worth if.........
The Co alarms used will probably have to meet the obsolete UL listing standard. Any info on what type of alarms are called for in the new standard? I guess anything is better than nothing.0 -
If you read the .pdf file link.
it basically reads that the detector must be certified by an authorized agent (such as UL).
The interesting thing is if I read it correctly the act is calling for CO alarms in all residences, both existing and new.0
