Would there be a problem with installing a raypak copper tube bo

Would a problem be created in installing a copper tube boiler for a old cast iron radiator system (now working with a circulating pump) House is three stories with 2 1/2 and 3 in mains and do not know if it was ever a gravity system. Would new boiler need a bypass or a primary/secondary arrangement. The system pump (which would also be the boiler pump) has been sized for the longest run in this very large (9,000 sq ft) and very old (90 yrs) house. The proposed boiler (Raypak) is 100% modulating down to 20 % of full firing rate. There is a large CI sectional boiler there now. Owner wants a significant lowering of gas bills

    Raypak

Is there any way to get the owner to upgrade to a Munchkin at least? After removing a few, Raypaks aren't high on my list. They can be made to run, but other than being inexpensive, there is little about them that's positive.

  • What he said...

ANY modcon is going to reduce his cash outlay for fuel by at least 30%, possibly as high as 50% depending upon...

You can make CFT work, but will have to add pumps, thermic bypass and all that to still end up with an 80% efficient system. Skip that crap, cut to the chase and drop a mod con in there and be done with it:-)
