gas hot water-should I use W/M (water CGa) or (water/steam EG)

I have a large house 1 family(approx 3000 sq ft) with an additional attached sq footage for heated 3 car garage. This house was originally a commercial structure and is built of steel, mortor and stone. My current system is hot water/gas, 2 zones and has an old W/M steam system converted to hot water with about 200,000 btu output. I have had several heating contractors over, but one feels that I would be better off with a Weil mclain steam/water EG65 for my needs, rather than the CGa-7 or CGa-8. He feels that it is a better unit. any comments? Thanks.

  • I Think...........

one model over the other is just a matter of personal preferance. I have put-in alot of CGa`s on HW systems with no problems, the boiler tappings are sized better for the application, but that`s just me. I`ve used the EG where chimney height was a problem, but other than that, they are both WM units.
