Radiant Koi Pond

did you run the load calcs? I tried heating a 4 foot deep ICF inground pool with radiant floor. Ii even used thermofin transfer plate. Hard to get enough BTU's out of that floor square footage, without excessivly high floor temperatures?

I used several of the online pool load calc programs as well as the gov.org site. Then divided the load by the floor square footage.

I'll be adding a tube and shell pool heat exchanger to the system :)

    that has class...*~/:)

are Koi edible? might want to put a small smoker and BBqQ/Fish fry near the new Koi pond *~/:) if any of them get outta line you could just flip em on to the fish frier :) especially any large ones givin you the "Evil Eye" :))

thinking about sending you a small dip net ...just in case... *~/:)

    We did one.

In NJ, where designs require overcoming 10+ degree winters, we had to do a filter-pump HX.

The tube and shell type by W/M was what we wound up with. Incredible trasfer for its size. Designed for swimming pools primarily.

Cool stuff. BTW, Koi, stuffed with garlic cloves and linseed oil, baked at 275 for 24 hours on an oak plank, is delicious.

Remove the Koi, eat the plank.

    D' lectible! (;-o)

    Sure!

The pond serves as a kettle too.

    How symbiotic!

    Just remember the garlic...

No load calcs I just installed as much tube as possible I have it in the walls wich are 5.5' from the floor to the water surface so I have another 200sqft of radiant surface on the walls as well and the pond is fully insulated, I don't think it will be a problem as I am keeping it at 70 untill it gets colder and then will lower it to 55 for the winter, the koi need a dormant period with no feeding anyway, this is mostley to avoid temperature swings from above 55 to below 50 as at about 50 the koi's ammune system goes to sleep and they can have problems because bacteria and parasites are still active.
