Combustion analyzer

I believe Testo has a promo on right now with their 324 and 330 model kits. You get a 36" Testoview for free with a kit purchase.

We have a pair of 325's and have had very good results with them.

    Combustion analyzer

I'm in a combustion analyzer buying mode. What do you guys suggest? I have a Pro 125 and not too happy with it.

    I've got

two 120's and have never had an issue with either of them.

I also have a TSI unit available from NCI. So far I love it.

What is your particular issue with the Bacharach units?

Mark, mine is being work on more than I have it. I'm very careful with my equipment, but I'm lucky if I can get two tests before it has to go back. I've had draft multiple times,co,temp, and the standard sensor issues.

    Hmmmmmm

    Sorry to hear that.

Rudy Leatherman could straighten this out. He works for Bacharach.

Check out the TSI unit from NCI.

Been using the TSI analyzer as well since March & really like it. If TSI only put stack temp on the main screen with CO & O2 instead of CO air free, that would be sweet.

Before that I was using a pro 125 that gave me five years of good service. Only issues were standard O2 sensor replacements & a loose connection on the board that the captain took care of for me.

    Testo 325

I really like the Testo 325. It does several different readings, easy to use, nice carrying case. The service department is very fast at getting it back to you for calibrations too. I used the old Bacharach Fyrite dumbell tester for years with the nasty green and red fluid that if you got on your hands, you could taste it for hours, yuk!

We have about 40 Pro 125's. THe only real issues have been the O2 sensors. They fail due to moisture so we have fine tuned our techs procedures for keeping them dry. Seems to be helping so far. Thankfully they come with a 2 year warranty that Bacharach is honoring.

Has anyone had trouble with the draft readings? I've used mine on some draft problem calls and seem to get very erratic readings. I find I'm going back to my small manual unit.

    Paul,

I have had draft problems w/ my 125 pro, jumping all over the place. Back to the magnahelic. Other than that I just bought my 2nd 125 pro. I like it very much.

I had a call the other day, a lady had her co detectors going off. She had 2 other contractors in to look for the problem, couldnt "see" anything wrong. I put my 125 into the power vented flue, 2600+ PPM!!! Yeow!! I would not have found the problem had I not had an analyzer.

It ended up being the burner tubes were rusted pretty bad and not letting the gas mix w/ the air. So I cleaned them real good. 14 PPM once I was done. Chalk another life-saving event up to the 125 pro.

    125

Thanks guys for all the input. I have the draft issues too. I talked to Rudy Leatherman today, don't know what Bacharach pays him but it's not enough. From hearing the good luck you guys have with the 125, and the call with Rudy, I'll fix it one more time.

I have zeroed my 125 before testing, and had the draft slowly go from the initial reading to a few .01's the other direction. Have to zero often. Also, if I test 30-40 PPM COAF, the CO level will not zero back below 6ppm, no matter how long I let it run, and it read 0ppm on start-up....I do like the instrument, though. Quality product and Rudy to back it up!!

    combustion analyzers

Has anyone had any experience with the Testo combustion
analyzers? In particular the Testo 325 M or the newer
    Testo 330-1.

Testo is quality equipment but has a real slow response time. Hard to diagnose problems on oil, but adequate for most gas appliances.
