Adding zones

Adding a zone is done all the time. If you current Monoflow zone works well, do not mess with it. Add a second zone in parallel with it's own circulator.

This is a good time to check and make sure that you are "pumping away" from the expansion tank, but otherwise the addition of a zone is routine surgery.

When designing new systems, I always install a set of valves for future; cheap insurance and less hassle than a drain-down to add later.

    adding a zone

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to add a zone or two to my existing boiler. It is a Burnham V-1A series. It is hooked up in a monoflow configuration. The house size has not changed. The only changes are spray foam insulation and new low e windows.I want a separate zone for bedroom underfloor heating using the ultra fin product.I am told this system can use boiler temp. water.I could add in a mixing valve to be on the safe side.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    adding a zone

Hi Brad, Thanks for the reply to my post on heating help. I searched and found the info on pumping away and will try to determine my setup. The forum is a great place to learn and it seems that the various posts I read were very informative.I will check back from time to time just to see what is going on.

    Spray Foam

Be careful using the spray on foam, if it not applied according to the manufacturers guidelines (1" at a time) temperatures can reach a temp that can blister the PEX. Just a warning.
