oil pump strainers on the gaskets do you put the new one on dry or do you wet them with oil?
haven a debate at work on this.

I always wet them in fuel oil, it makes life so much easier next time around, I also feel that a damp gasket comprsses better than a dry one0 -

Ditto on the wet. we install the gasket dry, keep the cap screws just a little loose, open the oil firo just enough to wet the gasket and it bleeds it at the same time. then just tighten the screws and presto.

thanks for your input i also wet my gaskets to on the return trip they come off easy.
my co-worker puts them in dry,say's the oil will swell gasket and seal better.
i told him when you have to scape a few you will learn.0 -
Rickey: f this helps....
I now keep a 1/4" drive ratchet set in my tool kit, along with a couple of different length extensions.It really helps with taking the cover off of the pumps.
