Carlin Burner question

I have a 22 year old hot water on demand Burnham furnace with a Carlin Burner that has eaten up far to many dollars in numerous repair jobs. My heating repairman said he can get a new, but older model Becket burner that would easily retrofit to this Burham for about $900 for all parts and labor. He did say that he doesn't know how this Becket burner being an older model would fit on a nwere furnace/boiler if those parts of my system decide to act up at a later date. Since like many families we are stretching the dollar, but I am tired of shooting good money after bad so I would be happy to hear suggestions. Also does switching over to a propane system make sense if the feed back is to go for a whole new setup? I know it is less BTU's, but requires much less maintenance and might be a cleaner burn. If staying with an oil system continues to make sense any suggestions for a heating an 1800 sq. ft. house in the Northeast?

    A new older burner

    A new older burner? How about a new tech, then a new burner to meet the specifications of the boiler. A 22 year old Burnham also came with Beckett burners, a tech can just check his Beckett book for the RIGHT model. By the way what's wrong with the Carlin?

    huh?

    you need to look at the Carlin burner and see if it says EZ1 or 100CRD or Miser or 99.

    prior to the EZ1 Carlin had some problems, the electrodes would move when closing the transformer, etc etc. So any Carlin other than the EZ1 is suspect.

    Having said that the EZ1 is a superior burner and has a great clean fire, I am taking my Beckett out and installing an EZ1, I would go that route. {I am tired of tring to get a clean fire out of my Beckett}

    Now if you have an EZ1 and have all these repairs I would be wondering why.

    Please get back to us with the info and what your problems have been.
