mass plumbing code

LWCO's must be installed on all hot water boilers in commercial buildings. CO detectors are required within 10 of every bedroom and minimum of one on each floor gas or oil equipment this is under the new building code not the plumbing code. Ed is right about the plumbing code, CO detectors must be installed when a SIDEWALL vented gas appliance is under seven feet from grade a hard wired with battery back up need be installed in the mechanical room, and b/o devices on each floor. Also a sign stating ' gas vent below keep clear of all obstructions' must be placed a mininum of eight feet above grade directly above vent. If vent is above seven feet the a sign is not needed and all c/o detectors may be battery operated. A liscenced electrician must install the hard wired c/o detectors within 30 days of the completion date of the install.

    Just to add

but don't have time to go through the codes, don't forget but there are also boiler laws that are not in the plumbing and gas code "makes it tough to know when and what you are going to get popped on"

I do believe it is mass code that if there is radiation below the boiler you need a lwco on forced hot water and most boiler manuals also state that so since you need to follow mfg instructions to install to code you need the lwco in that application.

Mitch is correct a lwco is required on boilers if radiation is installed below the boiler.

If a boiler is installed in a basement as well as radiation
does that same rule apply? They are on the same level.
