Amazing--I've never heard either of your questions before (thought I'd heard it all!) so I will have to ask a specialist. I'll get back.

Dear Carol, I have a question for your friends at Honeywell

I have been selling my customers the honeywll Th8100u1003 Vision pro thermostat for control of one pipe steam boilers in apartment buildings, we use 4 remote sensors located out in the apartments with the thermostat located in a locked boiler room, I install it with a 5 position rotary selector switch so they can either average all the sensors or read a sensor individually, my question is How often does the thermostat update it temperature reading and is that update time adjustable, also is it possible to program the multistage models for multiple heat stages with no fan i.e. one pipe steam high low fire burner.

    Thanks Bill

Here are the answers to your two questions:

    1. The current temperature is updated almost continuously—the display updates once a minute. No different then if the thermostat’s sensor was in control. The problem with using 1 remote location versus all 4 is that they will not see an immediate change in the temperature reading. The current temperature reading that is done almost continuously gets dumped into a current reading average in the thermostat. The thermostat display then takes that current reading average and updates that display once a minute. So it will take some time to most a change in the reading—it won’t be instant.

    2. no it is not possible to have multistage heat with no fan switch on the 8000 family. However, this could be done on the VP IAQ. You pick #3 for ISU 0172 and then the number of heat stages in ISU 0176.
