To me a huge benifit is that many 16 SEER units such as the York Affinity series is that you get a 2 stage compressor at those SEER levels

13 seer versus 16 seer
i am putting central air in with indirect water heater, radiant in garage and hot water coil for forced air, with peerless lp gas 90+ for boiler. what is the difference in 13 or 16 seer for condenser. what are my cost benefits in the long run and wear and tare. thanks0 -
What area do you live in

marylands eastern shore0 -
2 stage what does that do for me, easier on unit ?0 -
2 stage means that if the heat load is not extreme (design conditions) the unit can run at a reduced capacity, usaually someowhere around %60 of the units full capacity. This can save you money and do a better job of dehumidification.0 -
Why not
21 SEER?
It simply has to be better. Right?
I say go for the 21 SEER unit.

Why not.......
install the Fujitsu Inverter mini-split units that offer 21+ SEER. Whisper quiet, no ductwork, zoning for economy and excellent dehumidification.
