Replacing air vent, air purger and expansion tank

The air vent on my heating system is leaking and has caused the expansion tank and top panel of the furnace to rust.
I want to replace the air vent, air purger, and expansion tank and relocate them so they are not directly over the furnace. I know that I can isolate the air vent etc. from water that is in the system because of the shut off valves.
So my question is this: Once I remove the air vent etc. and replace them is there anything that I would need to do other than open the valves and allow water to get into that area that I just replaced.
Thanks

Pictures would help. Depending on your system design, you may not be able to or want to relocate them. If your boiler can be isolated while you replace the air vent, etc...then you should be able to just open both valves and run the system for a minute and bleed the rads once. If you have base board, you will just purge the loop(s). You may not need a new expansion tank, and if you ae going this far, replace the air vent / seperator with a micro-bubbler like a honeywell supervent. If the expansion tank will hold it's charge (equal to system pressure)when removed, you do not need a new one.
