how long to cast iron boiler last?/

Nobody seems to be able to answer this. whether to pull the plug and replace a 40year old gas boiler in a tiny non-expandable utility closet.

The Utility closet has out door access only!
The closet is in Michigan ( we have winter and its dam cold)
The boiler & heating system work fine .
I'm worried the heat exchanger might die of natural causes in winter. A new boiler install wont be any fun

Should I replace before it dies And how long , can, will, do cast iron 40 year old boilers hang on for ?.

The old box is an Ack - o - Matic 72k net. It has a small foot print and most all newer nat drafts have too large a foot print to fit in the shoe box closet....with bedrooms on both sides of the utility closet.. the noise factor comes into play too

bottom line questions - Would you replace"? when and how long can she go ??.

no boiler was small. I'm sure you'll easily find. Why not a wall hung? What makes your domestic hot water?

joe - thanks for responding. It was small. and is smaller than corrosponding capacity( nat draft iron today. Gas 40 gal in same closet. I'm concerned about wall vibration, and flue fan noise and reliability of HIgh teck "cards" going bad.

Thanks again for replying .. any guess as to how long they might be expected to last. I have no clue or idea!
