I know keyspan newengland has lock in there rates for 05/06, they say maybe 8% to 15% increase but nothing like the 70%+ increase your hearing for natural gas in other places.

Choosing a gas company for competive rates

In this crazy market we are in i am seeing rate locks,caps from 1 year to 3 years.Presently Keyspan has a rate of 1.63 per therm it has been going up. there is a company for example that is offering 1.50 per term cap for one year but the thing is there rate historicly was higher except for this month. it is very uncertain how gas prises are going. There are about a dozen of these gas copanies out there,I presently have Keyspan for delivery & MXenergy for supply what i have noticed is when the company started offering a fixed price back in sep 2004 the prices for the verible rate incresed. So these is just to inform people that they have a choice for there gas company. I am tring to forsee the future, all we here is gas & oil are going sky high so if i could lock in at $1.55 per therm i would think i would be under the the highest rate in the coming cold months.

gas prises on long island

$1.65 per therm (keyspan) mx energy(esco co) $1.78 per therm based on 44 therms used last mouth @ $1.78 would be 85.17 for supply(MX energy)includede tax & delivery would be $43.96 for a grand total of 129.13 instead of $90.43 at present rate. In todays paper (newsday buss. sec.) said do to warm weather prises have come down. what to do? wait and see or lock in?

Could there be competition with a monopoly? I don't know about your deal,but I was sucked by the so called discount gas years back. Promised a savings that cost me more.All I received was two bill loaded with two sets of surcharges. Just beware...

I cut the gas line for heat and hot water years ago.... A dryer and fire place gas is still a bargin..

Just sign a contract for $1.50 cap with a .05 cent premium based on supply cost on natural gas here on long island. hte rate is $1.63 (keypsan)mx exnergy $1.78 and other are about the same. understanding that if there is another hurrican or terrerest attact things could get real expencive.is there alot of people out there concerned about the way thing could get? i would like to know
