control old timers

I have alot of questions about control systems and how to cut down time on the job.My super says old school,tekmar256@150@timer@outdoor t-stats to keep the heat pumps running,to save fuel cost.He says this way he can tune the system to the cust. needs.I have been to 3 tekmar design and lay out seminars. I know there is a easy way to lay out these e.m.s. jobs without the pain.help
