Hot water boiler installation
Hello,
We are going to insatall a hot water heating system in a house and come out with a question.
Is it a good idea to use a hot water bouiler instead of
water heater.
Our contractor says that using a boiler all year around
isn't efficient.
Thank you for any advice.

Use a boiler, the efficiency is much higher. Has this contractor done a heat loss calculation on your house? If so, what was the load?
Robert O'Connor/NJ0 -
Thank you, Robert.
We are waiting for the calculations from him.
But anyway he told us that he has never combined heating and hot water in one unit. I dont think we'll be considering him for the job though.
We live in North Bergen. Can you recommend a reliable professional we can trust for hot water heating installation
in a house?0 -
Ouch
He's at least 20 years behind the curve. I'd look elsewhere, like the "Find a Pro" section of this site.0 -
We tried 'Find a Pro' and they are all at least 20 miles away and noone is willing to drive so far.
We need to find someone in North Bergen.0 -
20 miles ain't that far
It cracks me up when 20 miles seems far for a heating pro to drive to look at a new install job. My nearest supply house is about 80 miles roundtrip.0 -
I'm Laughing
Contractors wont look at stuff 20 miles away. what do they want, the boiler installs to be at their shop???

jeff should i replace old boilers with new or install forced air system0 -
I agree, Ted.
I'm going to a radiant job in the morning that's about 55 miles away.

I think the...
contractor means a boiler with a tankless is not a good way to go. Generally speaking I agree. An indirect water heater as a seperate zone is the prefered method of getting hot water. ex superstor, phase 3, amtrol boilermate, etc. hopr this helps. kpc

I service what I install
I DO NOT want to drive twenty miles at 10:00 pm for a no heat call.
I don't really understand the " Sorry I don't service what I installed " deal ?? What is the warranty ?
Not trying to break em here, I respect all you guys, but ...
