Air Flow - Convector

I have in wall convector cabinets on a hot water system. Some of the walls are not that well insulated. I would like to add say the 1/2 inch foam panel with the reflective foil side facing in and mount on the panel inside to help keep the hot air generated by the convector from being sucked in from the cold wall cabinet. Is this a good idea or would I affect the volume of the cabinet and thus the output?

convector
Its a good idea. The 1/2" in not going to block any convection , unless........ it falls foward by mistake..0 -
Secure
Was thinking of securing it with liquid nail .......

that sounds fine to me. What is important about the airflow through a convector is the height of the convector. Of course you don't want any unnecessary obstructions. I don't think a half inch or even an inch on the back will hurt. In fact by reducing the loss out the back the air will be warmer which will increase the flow. bob0
