Size of the boiler, WMgo3 or WMgo4, both recommended.

The 3 sec will give you 354 sq ft of steam and the 4 sec will give you 450.. Thats a big differance. they need to mesure the rads and add pick up for piping and match the boiler to the load...This will give you years of comfort.i would try the finda pro for this site if have not yet and see what they say. steam systems don't like guess work or personal preferances...Good luck ...David

Different estimates, different sizes recommended.
Hi,
We are getting estimates for a steam system install and of 3 estimates, 2 are recommending the WMgo4 and one is recommending a WMgo3. All of them measured. I asked them why they chose that size.
The person suggesting the 3 said it would give us all we needed with 20% extra?
The person suggesting the 4 said they thought the size 3 had a tendency to plug up more and he was planning on taking out the 1.25 nozzle and putting in a 1 gallon nozzle on the 4.
It is all greek to me. We had a size 4 before. Can anyone comment?

I have a 3 section WM in my house and I havent had to brush the flues in three years. Its not the boiler that plugs up its the adjustments that cause it to plug up. I use a Carlin burner on mine and it works very well.0 -
which boiler
Proper sizing is far more important than whether or not a boiler will plug. The only difference between the SGO3 SGO4 is one section. The passage ways are the same even with a 9 section. A nine will plug just as quickly as a 3 if not maintained and adjusted properly. Select the boiler that most closely matched the connected load, and don't worry about the maintenance issue....just make sure it gets proper service on an annual basis.
