drop header

I am a homeowner looking at replacing a steam boiler. I am seeking your advice. The contractors tell me the proper size is a Burnham IN4, natural gas fired.

I have been reading the posts here and I see posts talking about a drop header. Is a drop header something I should ask for? Does the drop header improve the performance of the boiler? There is enough clearance for the 24 inch riser.

Also, I have been reading posts indicating using both tapings for the risers. Will using both risers improve the performance of the boiler?

    drop header----but of course.

you can't go wrong with the drop header. second riser not necessary ,some might consider overkill. in any case you will wind up with more header than boiler !
