Have a bad spill switch. Hitting reset does not work When taking out of circuit boiler runs.Question Can you tell if the spill switch went bad because of gas spillage or just went bad from age. My understanding is they don't just go

spill switch
Typically spill switches don't "just go". Check draft from the appliance to see if its venting or something else. I'd pull the flue apart and see what could be clogging it, or causing the switch to trip. Has anything changed near where the appliance is located? An example of change would be: Has the area recently been renovated (changed from unusually loose construction to tight construction perhaps?)? Have storm windows been replaced with thermopanes or has the infiltration characteristics (sp?) changed in some way? Has a clothes dryer been introduced to this area or in the area that directly communicates with this area?
If you do nothing else, make sure that a "quality CO detector is nearby and functioning.
