Is it allowed

in Baltimore for a homeowner to do some electrical in the home if one gets a permit? My son is presumably closing on his first home (row) and will be tapped out even after borrowing from Mom to close. As is typical, some work needs to be done like clean and test the gas furnace for which we will hire a pro.
I would like to do the electrical to, ah, minimize our funding of the teacher kid. I know here in ME I do most stuff but am unfamiliar with Balwmor.

I believe you do need a permit

for just about anything. Most of the ones I see on jobs are for service upgrades where a permit and inspection is required before BGE will hook up to it.

Oh BTW, if that house has a Federal Pacific breaker panel he needs to have it replaced NOW.

Most municipalities allow for the OWNER to pull any permit he / she wants, except the sewer main...including a service change and or re-wire. Just call the permit counter.
