Prestige ran for 15 minutes just fine, then

then the display went blank. The boiler continued to run on a dhw demand call for another few minutes then quit.

The dhw pump continues to run, and the reset will start the post purge fan for a few seconds. Nothing.

Checked fuses, OK, replaced anyways. Power correct polarity at 117V. Ground is ok at plug and terminal strip. LP pressure in range.

Moon is full, I think.

I'm printing troubleshooting info as we speak, so far nothing about display disapperence?

I switched module with one from second boiler on the job, nothing.. That boiler runs fine, however.

Missed the tech support team, they were helpful earlier in the day.

Anybody??

    Flaky Electronics

Sounds like an intermintent connection. Gently pull each wire to see if the connection looks good, but is not crimped correctly. I suspect that a factory installed DC power wire to the PCB is the culprit.

Or it could be a cracked PCB. ANY indications of bumps or bruises?

    Did you...

Test the sensors? Could one be throwing the control out of whack?

Computers are only as good as the information they are fed or receive...If some thing going IN ain't right...the outgoin info is wracked! Just a hunch. Chris

    I'm a little confused

You changed the modules of 2 boilers and the original problem did not go away and the 2nd boiler still worked or visa versa?? I'm very interested. I'm starting up an LP Prestige on Monday. Please keep us informed. WW

  • If the control unit isn't fed with line current, I'd highly suspect the power supply.

    I'll return with fresh eyes

tomorrow :) I'm nervous about the routing of the flat ribbon cable from the module to the display. It was not in the protective sleeve where it goes under the hinged access panel. Perhaps a nick in that ribbon.

That hinged electrical panel in nice, probably necessary, but you need to take care when you wire it to allow slack to open. And keep the wires out of harms way when you close it.

Wayne, the second boiler started and continues to run fine. It has a Mini Smart connected for HW in his shop. I removed this module and put it in the dead boiler. Still nothing. I put that module back where it belongs and that boiler continues to run fine.

That small Mini Smart is pretty slick for a small dhw load, like his shop sink.

    The manual lists

the transformer and surge protction as a common part to carry for repairs. I wonder that a possible bad ribbon cable would take out the transformer. Although both the 120 and 24V fuses were good.

    GFI

Hot Rod, make sure you are not powering unit on a GFI. Have had some issues with other makes in past.
