Greewood boiler installation

I've attached a few pictures of a Greenwood boiler installation since their had been some talk about woodburning products. This boiler was furnished by the homeowner and all we did was install it and fab the radiant panel and wiring.
The radiant system itself was pretty vanilla. The thing that made it different was that it was for a family in northwest Arkansas that has 16 children. They have been featured on The Learning Channel several times over the last few years. This is the Jim Bob Duggar family and they built the biggest part of the 7,000 sq. foot home themselves over a 3.5 year period of time. The final phases were done by sub-contractors on some of the trades.
They installed the floor insulation, and all the Vanguard pex tubing. We were asked to install the Greenwood unit and the complete the radiant. The Duggars had no idea what was involve in the hydronic panel and were amazed that they had even considered doing it, since they didn't have a clue what they needed.
They had run no load calculations on the home and had installed the radiant on 6" centers throughout. We ran the loads and were able to get the temps that were needed in each of the zones. The loops were all shorter than 250' and were within 10% length of each other, which was a blessing.
They have 4 zones, all over tile floor. The Greenwood boiler provides the heat for the floor as well as for the domestic hot water. They also have gas furnaces tied into ductwork.
These pictures were taken as we were starting the system up. The TV people were filming that day as well.
So far they are really pleased with the system. The 2 older boys are in charge of cutting the wood, and keeping the boiler stocked with wood, and then cleaned out of the ashes. Next winter will be a good test to see how it does for the heating system.

Question....?
Does the boiler have a water jacket? or built in heat exchanger?

Greenwood furnace--
Paul, the boiler does not have a water jacket. You can go to their website at www.greewoodfurnace.com, click on "products" and get a pretty good description of the furnace.

nice job
I had seen the discovery show about them but all aside thats some nice work i noticed the plate exchangers and the boilers wall mounted expansion tank ,over all very nice work i also see if i,m right a injection pump for the radiant heat also are they using a flat plate for portable water is that with or with out a storage tank just wondering .Also is the taco 007 off the boiler ok for a open system like that i know it's alot cheaper then a stainless or bronze pump just wondering .And never to pick but did they put the flue pipe together because i hate to say but the crimps are going the wrong direction i would have probalby have fixed it but heck what do i know all in all nice job peace and good luck clammyR.A. Hi Clammy,
The Taco pump off the furnace was "factory-installed" and my guess is that it was done for economics. The Flat Plate heat exchanger on the furnace is also factory installed. One side of it is seeing the glycol solution.
The Flat Plate heat exchanger on the hydronic panel is for the domestic hot water. The hot water tank is a standard 75-gallon natural gas heater. We installed a digital thermostat for it.
A Tekmar control (don't remember the model #, but it is shown on the wall panel close to the electrical junction box and Taco control) is installed for outdoor reset. The owners didn't understand the outdoor reset function and initially felt like the water should be as hot as posible all the time. We tried to explain the reason for outdoor reset, but Mr. Duggar struggled with the reasoning.
The single-wall flue on woodburning products generally are installed with the crimp running towards the stove since it can contain creosote, which would tend to run out of the pipe onto the floor if the crimp were to run in the normal direction.
I appreciate your comments.
