Have use many of the vents you mentioned with amazing success. good quality and great backup service and advice from the local rep. I think they work as great as their controls do.

radiator vent valves - steam -

Does anyone have any experience with or opinions on the 'heat-timer' brand varivalve - adjustable vent valve?

I have normally used the vent-rite (or older adjustable hoffman or dole valves). However I tried the varivalve on a messy one pipe situation I found (single radiator at the end of a very long run with piping too small, not enough insulation, very cold area under house, probably not really enough pitch, etc.) - the varivalve SEEMS to vent a lot better (easier/faster) - the radiator nearly got hot!

What worries me is this. The varivalve has no tail back into the radiator so couldn't some condensed vapor destroy the valve with a steam hammer so to speak. (The response from the company itself left me wanting to get some second opinions).

Also any really neat or creative suggestions would really be appreciated, I don't need a lot of sappy advice - I often help people like in this situation who make $13 an hour at best and really have no money, so I use every inexpensive trick I can think of and limit any extensive work to only that with a really huge payoff.

    Thanks much.

PS: Toyed with the notion of leaving the valve off entirely. Some steam came in the room during the cycle and the extra humidity certainly helped make the place seem warmer.
