    First time I win something

And it's something I can actually use. Never won a dime at anything before, but I'll take the solar system and run. My old system was and experimental system in 89 that failed by 96. I thought I was going to win a hat or maybe a Viessmann Sweatshirt. Two panel solar system with an 80 gallon tank, control and pump, even the glycol. Thank you Dr. Viessmann. And Dr. Suzuki hit the nail on the head. Who drives an SUV?

    Congrats!!

Great score...hopefully they'll give you the vacuum tube array, rather than the flat panels...maybe you can get an "upgrade"?? Got enough Viessmann miles?

    Gave it some thought

but I figured, better leave good enough alone. Besides, I came to the conclusion that the tubes work better on marginal days, but year round average there was not that much difference, I heard that the tubes in full sun did not perform as well as the flat plates durring the summer months. Anyone hear or have an opinion on this tube vs. flat plates performance? Tubes have a premium price.

    Congrats Ron,

Personally, I like the tubes. They seem to be a bit more adjustable, meaning you can aim them at the direct sun, and they concentrate the heat to the medium at a better rate...however, the biggest difference that sticks in my head is that they can be changed individually if, "stuff occurs". If a panel gets damaged, it's junk. A few tubes are more likely to survive, and can be switched out without disassembling the whole system. JMHO.

I wish I could have joined the party in Waterloo. I guess I'll have to accept the tour of the Allendorf plant from last year, as a pleasant Thank You from the big V. Chris

    If he has time

Nathan has taken over most of the operation at this point. Two weeks ago I gave in to father time, I went to work for Laconia WinAir, part of the Winwholesale Group. Outside sales and engineering. Thought I would wait until I completely fell apart, but at this point my left hand is shot (good thing I'm right handed, heh!)my back and feet hurt, and they made me a very good offer. Now I get to sell Viessmann, Unico, etc. to a bigger crowd, and I don't have to get dirty doing it. I will still be able to help Nathan, and others, with designing and selling jobs. I can always go back to the trenches If it doesn't work out, maybe I'll miss wacking my head in basements, dropping hot solder on my hands, or smashing my hands when the pipe wrench slips.. Naahhhh!
